Woodblock Restaurant Grand Opening in Redmond

Woodblock RedmondCarolyn and Tony Scott are delighted to announce the opening of their first restaurant, Woodblock. The official grand opening will take place at 4pm on March 18 with a ribbon cutting by Redmond Mayor John Marchione.

Woodblock is located on Cleveland Street in the Old Town Lofts, a new building in downtown Redmond. The restaurant is right next to the Connector Trail and the forthcoming Redmond Central Park, which will have a pavilion for performances and space for families and friends to gather and play. The area has been redesigned with pedestrians in mind with lights strung across the street and wide sidewalks—something that Woodblock will take advantage of with outdoor seating come summertime. CALL FOR DUDLEY CARTER ART – OPEN TO PUBLIC

MainStreet Property Group LLC has issued a public call for Dudley Carter artwork, a Redmond artist and woodcarver whose artwork has gained international recognition through his life-long work. The developer plans to display the pieces in a collection of Dudley Carter art at The Carter, a 180-unit apartment complex located in downtown Redmond, WA adjacent to the Dudley Carter Park planned to open in the Fall 2016.

Dudley Carter was the inspiration for The Carter building as well as its namesake.  In 1988 at the age of 96, Carter served as King County’s first artist-in-residence at Slough House Park in Redmond where he carved many of his pieces on-site, allowing the public to watch and learn as he worked. The park located across the street from the project now includes Carter’s Haida House Replica No. 4, which he carved in the 1980s at his home in Bellevue. It was reconstructed in the early 1990s while he was in residence at the park. The Slough House Park was pronounced the Dudley Carter Park on September 8, 2012.

Redmond Based Physio-Control to Acquire HeartSine

AED Manufacturers Unite to Offer
Broad Range of Lifesaving Public Access Defibrillation Products
Physio-Control has reached an agreement with HeartSine Technologies to acquire the Northern Ireland-based automated external defibrillator (AED) manufacturer, the companies announced today. The two privately held companies recently completed due diligence. Financial details of the transaction are not being released. The combination creates one of the world’s largest AED solutions providers.

“With Physio-Control and HeartSine now united in our lifesaving missions, we will be able to offer a tremendous range of AED solutions to our global customers and partners,” said Physio-Control CEO Brian Webster. “Sudden cardiac arrest is one of the biggest health care problems in the world and AEDs are a critical part of the solution. The global market for these devices is growing fast and our joint aim is to save more lives with more AEDs in more places.”
The companies share a strong scientific and technical focus with important, often parallel histories. The pioneer of direct current defibrillation, Physio-Control has partnered with leading emergency medical systems since the 1960s and commercialized the first home use AED, the LIFEPAK 100, in 1986. HeartSine’s founder, Professor John Anderson, worked with the pioneer of out-of-hospital mobile coronary care, Dr. Frank Pantridge, in Belfast in the 1960s and 1970s.
