Imagine Tomorrow combines science, behavioral and business issues: Teenagers research energy-related topics, then develop plans to apply their ideas. Up to $100,000 in cash prizes will be given out, thanks to contest sponsors. The keynote speaker is Jim Hanna, director for datacenter sustainability at Microsoft.

Each judge evaluates presentations on a pair of attributes: Design, technology or behavior and the topical areas of aerospace, biofuels, the built environment or the food/energy/water nexus.

Judges assign points based on the five criteria of objective, creativity, inquiry, thoroughness and presentation. Additional specialty awards are considered in such areas as exceptional teamwork or community or global impact.

Along with Alaska Airlines, other competition sponsors include Northwest Advanced Renewables Alliance, Boeing Company, BP America, Tacoma Public Utilities and McKinstry.
