Dr. Sheila Edwards Lange of Seattle Central College Elected to AAA Washington’s Board of Trustees

Dr Sheila Edwards Lange AAA Board of TrusteesDr. Sheila Edwards Lange, president of Seattle Central College, was recently elected to AAA Washington’s Board of Trustees. Dr. Edwards Lange brings a wide range of experience leading higher education administration and developing transformational initiatives related to diversity. AAA Washington is the preeminent provider of emergency roadside assistance, leisure travel services and personal-lines insurance products for more than one million members in Washington and northern Idaho.

Dr. Edwards Lange has been president of Seattle Central since 2015 where she oversees the educational experience of nearly 16,000 students each year. Prior to her role as president of Seattle Central College, Dr. Edwards Lange served as the University of Washington’s (UW) vice president for Minority Affairs and vice provost for Diversity. Her career has also focused on improving the campus climate at North Seattle College, Western Washington University and the University of California, Irvine. Dr. Edwards Lange also currently serves as chair of the Seattle Art Museum’s Education and Community Engagement Committee, and a member of new Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan’s transition team.

Dr. Edwards Lange earned her doctorate and master’s degrees from the University of Washington in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies, and Public Administration, respectively. She completed her bachelor’s degree in social ecology at the University of California, Irvine.
